:)
It's been a while.
Is it Autumn, or Winter in Melbourne? A bit hot for both today?
Sometimes, when you take a photo with flash, you wonder why your face looks ghostly white? Did you check your sunscreen ingredients? Any that contain titanium oxide, zinc, or other light reflecting ingredients will cause your face to have a white cast when being photographed using flash.
Physical Sunblocks, are sunscreens that sit on your skin, so that you don't need to wait the 15-30 minutes for your sunscreen to be "ready". It reflects UV rays, so that it does not get to your skin. It eventually wears off, but does not wear off as fast as Chemical Sunscreens.
Chemical Sunscreens are synthetic substances that absorb into your skin, hence having to wait 15-30 minutes for it to fully absorb and start working. It works by absorbing UV rays, so that it does not get to your skin. After a while, when the chemicals can absorb no more, you should reapply. A good thing about Chemical sunscreens is that it does not cause your face to be ghostly white in photos. :)
SPF IN AUS
You may have noticed that you cannot buy sunscreens higher than SPF 30 in Australia right? This is because Australian regulations only allow sunscreens to be classified up to SPF 30, any sunscreen that is tested to be higher than 30, will only be classified as SPF 30+. This is because sunscreens are "unstable" once passed SPF 30, so yeh... Don't know why though...
Here is the Aussie Sunscreen regulation thing.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch SPF 30+
Hey!
Melbourne weather as we know it. Freezing in the middle of summer.
I've been introducing all the expensive high-end sunscreens, so for a change, here is a good drugstore one. I love this one!
Formulated for the BODY. This one comes in SPF 15 and 30, whatever you prefer. It also comes in a lotion, or mist spray. I personally like the mist. That's just me though...

DO NOT USE ON THE FACE. I REPEAT, TO NOT USE ON THE FACE! If you want, use the Facial Neutrogena Dry-Touch, specially formulated for the face.

This sunscreen, both the body and the facial one, have UVA, UVB Broad Spectrum, and Helioplex technology. Helioplex, is Neutrogena's own trademarked technology, helps stabilize the sunscreen so the UVA protection is stable. Read more about it here: http://www.neutrogena.com/category/helioplex.do
Personally, I find this sunscreen works well. I only use the body sunscreen, and it prevents burning/tanning. It is, as its name states, "Dry-Touch". It does not feel greasy, and it's as if you haven't got any sunscreen on. [As long as you apply the right amount. Not a mountain load of it] You should only need light rubbing in with the Lotion. The Body Mist is a quicker option, and you don't even need to rub in.
You can find this sunscreen at most chemists and supermarkets, retailing at around $17, depending on where you go.

Clinique Sun Face Cream SPF 30+
Yet another Clinique Sun product.

The online description:
It offers great UVA and UVB protection. Not sure about broad spectrum though, as they don't mention it.
It is extremely light on the skin, and doesn't leave face shiny and greasy. It has a slight scent of sunscreen, but it is unoticeable after a while. It absorbs quickly into skin, but remember not to apply too much, or it will make your skin look oily, and feel greasy. You may have put too much on, if you can still feel moisture on your skin after a few minutes.
I recommend a little little bit of moisturizer a few minutes before applying this product.
It is slightly pricey, $36 for a 50ml tube. According to ELLE magazine, it is one of the best sunscreens out there. I believe it is worth every cent.

The online description:

Gentle enough for sensitive skins. Dermatologist tested.Recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation.

Clinique Super City Block SPF 30+

Here's the online description:
High-level daily sun protection in a sheer, weightless formula. For all skins, even the most sensitive. Offers SPF 30+ protection from sun's UVA/UVB rays. Antioxidants help protect against environmental irritants. Wear alone or as an invisible under-makeup primer.
Here in Australia, Clinique products are more expensive, despite the high Aussie dollar. A Clinique mascara would cost about $18 in America, but costs almost double at $40 here. hmmm....
This sunscreen is formulated for the face, and is intended to last all day. Hmm I wonder how that works. Ahh! It's got titanium dioxide in it.
It gives you UVA and UVB protection, and it's tinted. For those who love a good tan.
I personally don't like to get tanned, so this is not for me. :(
The good thing is, it is suitable for all skin types, and it also acts as a primer.
It retails at $36, available at all Clinique counters!
Kit Cosmetics - 30+ Face Sunscreen
Seen Kit Cosmetic's 30+ Face Sunscreen?

Here's the website description:
It is exactly as described.
The sunscreen is lightweight, doesn't leave face feeling oily and greasy, and is fragrance free. Do you hate some sunscreens that make you smell like "sunscreen"?
It acts as a good moisturizer and primer. Wear it under makeup, and makeup shall stay like a baby.
The high UVA + B protection, broad spectrum, and the high SPF attracts me to it.
Another pro is its cute packaging. Well, I consider it cute. It reminds me of the beach.
It comes in a 75g tube, and is on the expensive side of sunscreens. Retailing at $31.95. It is a great face sunscreen though.
